Cassville sits an easy flight north of Bentonville, and the reason to go is Roaring River State Park: a spring that pushes twenty million gallons a day out of the base of a bluff, feeding a trout stream that runs cold all year regardless of what the weather is doing.
The trout fishing is the headline and it is genuinely good — the park is stocked daily in season and the water is clear enough to sight-fish. Around it, the hills are riddled with cave systems, and the forest is the lush, heavily-wooded kind that the southern Missouri Ozarks do better than anywhere.
